Influence of plant density on fruit and foliar nutritional composition for Hass avocado in Colombia

dc.descriptionThis study aimed to determine the effect of plant density on avocado fruit and leaf nutritional composition in commercial orchard cv. Hass in the department of Antioquia, Colombia. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with three replicates. The treatments consisted of six plant densities (204, 278, 333, 400, 625, and 816 tree ha-1), and each experimental unit consisted of six 9-year-old trees. The 333 and 400 trees ha-1 plant densities presented the highest leaf concentrations of N, P, Ca, Mg, S, Zn, and B and fruits' lowest saturated fatty acid contents. The nutritional balance index for N, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, Mn, Zn, and B was significantly affected by plant densities. The plant density significantly does not affect K, Ca, S, and Fe concentration in fruits, and the percentage of avocado fruits by size showed no significant differences due to plant distances.
