Afghanistan is a predominantly rural country, with over 75% of inhabitants living in rural areas. A staggering 85% of Afghan households depend on agriculture for their livelihood. FAO and the Afghan Government implemented a project aimed at developing the institutional as well as the coordination capacity towards integrated approaches that can support rural Afghans to engage in more productive and stable livelihoods. The project trained and equipped 7,000 beneficiaries, divided into Common In terest Groups, to support their members’ livelihoods.
