| dc.description | The first five year National Programme for Food Security (NPFS) was launched in Nigeria in November 2001, in partnership with FAO. The objective of the NPFS is to foster the development of smallholder agriculture and income generation in rural areas, improve national food security, and reduce poverty on an economically and environmentally sustainable basis. In order to consolidate and expand on the results achieved during the first phase of the NPFS programme , the current project was launched. Its objectives were to strengthen the technical and organizational capacities of NPFS implementing agencies to deliver country wide comprehensive services, and to enhance decision making and productive capacities of beneficiary farmers, in order to support food insecure and poor households. | |
