This catalogue introduces drip irrigation as a highly efficient Climate-Smart Agriculture technology for smallholder farmers in provinces like Luang Prabang and Oudomxay. Drip irrigation delivers water slowly and precisely to the root zone through pipes and emitters, minimizing waste. The document highlights multiple climate benefits. Drip irrigation uses thirty to fifty percent less water than surface methods and achieves up to ninety-five percent efficiency. It increases crop yields significantly, reduces weed growth, prevents soil erosion, and works effectively on sloped or uneven ground. By enabling fertigation, it also cuts fertilizer use by thirty percent.Practical guidance includes essential components, a step-by-step installation methodology, and a demonstration plot design. A material table lists pipes, emitters, filters, and pressure regulators needed for a ten by ten meter vegetable plot. The catalogue also suggests suitable starter crops, from tomatoes and chili to coffee and fruit trees. While challenges exist—such as clogging, high initial costs, and limited local repair networks—the catalogue offers solutions through service enablement and partnerships. A question and answer section addresses common farmer concerns about installation, maintenance, and drought performance.Designed for extension workers and farming communities, this tool supports participatory learning and climate-resilient agriculture. By saving water, boosting productivity, and reducing inputs, drip irrigation represents a practical pathway toward more reliable and profitable farming under a changing climate.
