These banners will be used as visibility materials at the first workshop of the Africa Phytosanitary Programme (APP) from 25-29 September in Cairo, Egypt. The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat and the African Union (AU) Commission of Agriculture are jointly implementing APP. The workshop will be attended by close to 100 participants from 11 African countries. The goal of APP is to empower national governments, through the National Plant Protection Organizations (NPPOs), with the capacity necessary to safeguard agriculture and natural resources against plant pests. The APP also intends to enhance Africa's regional collaboration on emerging plant health issues, especially those related to food security, climate change, and economic growth.
