| dc.description | Years of conflict and significant economic deterioration have left South Sudan in the grip of serious food insecurity, with women and children the most vulnerable. Despite the recent peace agreement, extreme levels of acute food insecurity are expected to persist in areas of continued conflict and poor harvests, calling for immediate and unhindered food assistance and careful monitoring. For 2019, FAO requires USD 75 million to assist 4.8 million people to protect their livelihoods and increase their resilience to shocks. | |
