The Plant Protection Agreement for Asia and the Pacific Region is an intergovernmental treaty administered by the Asia and Pacific Plant Protection Commission (APPPC). At its 84th session the FAO Council approved a number of amendments to the Agreement to introduce mandatory contributions for the contracting governments. These amendments entered into force in September 2009 after acceptance by two-thirds of the contracting governments. Pursuant to the articles of the Agreement, the Asia and Paci fic Plant Protection Commission adopted its rules of procedure and financial rules at its 26th session (August-September 2009). These rules are presented in this document. It is expected that the rules will strengthen the Asia and Pacific Plant Protection Commission in progress towards plant protection in the region including plant quarantine and pest and pesticide management.
