This training manual seeks to build the capacity and enhance the training skills of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and partner organization staff to conduct training at grassroots level from a gender and HIV perspective. This is in an effort to fulfil the FAO mandate of developing interventions that minimize the existing gender gaps and ensure that resources and services are equally accessible to both men and women. It is also part of the continuing effort to b uild a team of gender and HIV skilled trainers in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and food security (FS) programmes. It is hoped that this will ultimately help to build confidence of the project beneficiaries, especially women, and promote their increased participation in programme activities and leadership positions that involve decision-making.
