Prices of millet and sorghum are falling in local markets which, coupled with good harvests, are improving food access. Recent al-Qaida terrorist acts have raised security concerns in certain regions of the country. Food security is improving, but international agencies are still concerned with an alarming situation of hunger whereby an estimated 1.8 million people are food insecure. The government has put in place measures through December 2010 to support the population affected by the food crisis.
