| dc.description | Water availability in Lebanon has been hit by many critical issues, such as water resource degradation, increasing water demand, rapid urbanization and climate change. Effective and efficient water management is thus fundamental to ensuring sustainable development without jeopardizing the status of water resources. Water monitoring and accounting play a crucial role in helping water management institutions to manage complexity and to implement integrated water resources management. The aim of the project was to improve the performance and enhance the capacity of regional water management institutions, leading to more effective planning and management of water resources, and better water outcomes for end users. The project was implemented in the pilot area of Akkar and Menieh irrigation schemes in El Bared watershed, North Lebanon. | |
