FAO’s priority in West Africa and the Sahel region remains to reduce the virus transmission along the food chain, to avoid disruption in essential operations, and to mitigate the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the most vulnerable communities. In response to the pandemic and its negative effects, and in collaboration with its partners at country and regional levels, FAO is adjusting its existing mechanisms and programmes in the region.
