This paper is a contribution to the review of the 1994 Barbados Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States in the areas falling under FAO's mandate. It describes key areas of FAO's assistance to Small Island Developing States in agriculture, forestry and fisheries over the last decade as well as emerging issues and challenges facing small islands' sustainable development.
