Descripción
The project was well aligned with national priorities and international development frameworks. It contributed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework outcome on strengthening capacity for improved productivity, sustainability and resilience of agrifood systems, and supported the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2, particularly Target 2.3 on increasing the productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers. By establishing safer milk standards and practical hygiene protocols, developing accessible clean milk scorecards for smallholders, and linking them to a quality-based premium model, the project facilitated the inclusion of small livestock keepers in local milk value chains, creating pathways for improved incomes, market access and food safety. The project advanced gender equality by targeting women smallholder farmers, the primary actors in dairy production. The scorecard, application and training materials enhanced their capacity to manage hygiene practices, participate in cooperative decision making, and access premium markets.
