This terminal evaluation reviews the "Support for Sustainable Food production and Enhancement of Food Security and Climate Resilience in Burundi's Highland” project IAP-FS. The project objective was to increase adoption of resilient, improved production systems for sustainable food security and nutrition through integrated landscape management and sustainable food value chains. The evaluation results highlight significant progress in land restoration and integrated landscape management. Overall, the project's performance is satisfactory. The project successfully benefited from coordination between technical interventions and local governance. However, weaknesses remain in terms of the sustainability of mechanisms, access to inputs, and post-project coordination. The evaluation mainly recommended that the GEF and FAO/the implementing agency ensure that future projects integrate: i) the formalization of exit plans with transition budgets; ii) the economic model structuration of CPEs and AVECs; and iii) systematically the M&E mechanisms into public budgets.
