This publication highlights the collaboration between FAO and the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in advancing the use of remote sensing data (WaPOR) for sustainable water and agricultural management. It provides an overview of key activities and results achieved between 2022 and 2024, including capacity development through training sessions and MOOCs, co-development of tools for water productivity and irrigation performance assessments, and enhancements to the WaPOR database and its applications. The publication serves both as a record of achievements and a knowledge-sharing tool, offering insights and practical examples to inform future efforts in similar contexts.Aligned with FAO’s Strategic Framework and its aspiration for Better Production, Better Nutrition, a Better Environment and a Better Life, the publication contributes to the Organization’s efforts to promote sustainable use of natural resources, climate-resilient agriculture, and data-driven decision-making. It supports the objectives of the Office of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environment (OCB) and addresses the needs of technical stakeholders, practitioners, and policy actors seeking innovative and scalable solutions for water and land productivity. By documenting successful collaboration and showcasing practical tools and training approaches, the publication also enhances the visibility of FAO, IHE Delft, and associated projects, strengthening their role as global leaders in the field of sustainable water management.
