Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) Subregional Office for Eastern Africa (SFE) was established in 2007 to cater for nine countries in the region: Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan and Uganda- collectively occupying a total area of 5 144 288 km² with a population of over 200 million people. As an advisory and technical unit, FAO-SFE is staffed with a multidisciplinary team with technical competencies in: land and natural resources management, forestr y, fisheries, animal production and health, investment support, agribusiness and enterprise development, policy analysis and support and development, plant production and protection. The Office supports national governments and collaborates with development partners in the region to improve agricultural productivity, raise levels of food security and nutrition, better the lives of rural populations and contribute to the global economic growth for sustainable development in Eastern Africa.
