dc.descriptionOver the next two decades a level of government involvement in agriculture comparable to that of the past two decades can be justified. Indigenous, cyclical, and secular characteristics of agriculture provide a strong defense of this position. Abandoning commodity programs would have adverse consequences. A realistic set of policy goals is presented and suggestions for fine-tuning government programs are offered.
