Effect of increasing levels of bluggoebanana pseudostems added to corn silage asroughage, on Jersey calves growing inconfinement, during the dry season. Thebiological and economical effect of bluggoebanana (Musa ABB) pseudostem in combinationwith corn silage fed to calves growing, duringthe dry season, was analized. Twenty Jerseygrowing calves in total confinement, averaging154 kg of body weight. The forage mixturesused were: pseudostem:corn silage 0: 100%,40:60%, 50:50%, and 60:40%. Each group wasfed daily 1.5 kg of protein concentrate plus 50g of animal salt and weighed weekly. Theexperimental period lasted 63 days, after 7 daysof adaptation to diets. During the last 3 days anapparent digestion analysis was carried out. Thedry matter intake, crude protein and neutraldetergent fiber intake, decreased linearly(P<O.OI) as the pseudostem percentageincreased in the forage mixture. The greater drymatter intake was found when only corn silagewas fed. The concentration of ruminal ammoniadecreased linearly (P<O.OI) as pseudostemporcentage increased. Digestibility of dry matter
