Descripción
Sri Lanka became a member nation of FAO in April 1948 and a permanent FAO Representation was established in the country in 1979, signalling a close partnership with the Government of Sri Lanka. Since then, FAO’s technical assistance and funding support to the country has focused on addressing the needs and priorities of the government within the sectors of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and forestry. Over the past 40 years, the FAO Representation in Sri Lanka has implemented over 400 projects in the country reaching approximately one million farming and fishing families in the country enabling them to build resilient livelihoods.
With its mandate aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), FAO is continuing to assist the Sri Lankan people by forging strong partnerships with all its stakeholders.
