| dc.description | This paper attempts to indicate the state of agriculture in a semi0arid region within an irrigated zone in an agriculturally advanced district, namely, Burdwan. While the semi-arid region consists of Asansol zone, the remaining part of the district comes under the irrigated zone which enjoys the facilities of canal irrigation from long past. While the district is said to be the most agriculturally advanced district in West Bengal, the agricultural condition of the purely rain-fed area in the same district needs much consideration in the context of overall 'green revolution'. The total operational area of the semi-arid zone is 1,40,520 acres which is as much as 30 percent of the total operational area of the district. | |
