The effect of using two paddlewheel aerators (1 HP each) in Macrobrachium rosenbergii monoculture pond of 0.56 Ha area was not affective to influence plankton growth and benthic organisms biomass, while fluctuation of dissolved oxygen level between in the day and the nighttime is a broaden. Closed correlation between dissolved oxygen with Chlorophyll a concentration increased concurently with phytoplankton abundance in pond water. Organic matter particulate in pond bottom decreased followed by the increment of benthic organisms. Great increment of organic matter due to the abundance of phyto and zooplankton in the pond water was occur. The dominant of zooplankton groups is Rotifer, while the phytoplankton and benthic organism groups was dominated by Cyanophyta and Chironomid respectivelly. Oscillatoria, a blue-green algae is a most common phytoplankton genera found in prawn monoculture pond; however the prawns have difficulty in digesting them. Blooms of blue-green algae have an in fluence growth and mortality of prawn. To increase the profitability in prawns monoculture and eliminated algae blooms, low stocked planktovirous fish is recomended. 1) Research sponsored by FAO/NACA under the secondment for Young Scientists Programme.
