Descripción
Grenada’s agricultural sector has long been a cornerstone of the national economy. Historically, exports of bananas and sugar were significant contributors to rural livelihoods and foreign exchange earnings. However, the decline of these traditional export crops, coupled with the adverse impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on food supply chains and national food security, has underlined the urgent need to diversify and modernize the sector. Agriculture and fisheries continue to present important growth opportunities for Grenada’s economy, particularly as a source of jobs, rural development and poverty reduction.
