Fisheries legislation in Timor-Leste was originally written in Portuguese and was only later translated into Tetum language. However as there were no Tetum words to describe many technical concepts a number of terms remained in Portuguese or were directly (and not very clearly) translated. This document gives a glossary and clarification of key technical terms within current Timorese fisheries legislation
