Descripción

Despite the notable changes that have been made, which are mainly of a political nature and directly affect economic, social and environmental priorities, the LAC region faces a series of challenges such as i undernourishment associated with malnutrition, which generates overweight and obesity ;;( the need to transform food systems, so as to understand their nutritional link with the population, especially with the most vulnerable ;;( the implementation of new policies or programmes to combat rural poverty ;;( the expansion of land area for agricultural use and the consequent degradation of soils and waters, reduction of biodiversity and deforestation, and ( climate change with the concurrence of extreme events such as droughts and floods To address these challenges, the region has national policies and programmes that have proven to be highly effective in achieving food security, rural development and environmental management The goal of this project was to strengthen dialogue in all countries of the region to improve FAO's regional governance in LAC and, in turn, to identify new areas of interest or work that have not been considered and that are regarded as priority areas of action in the countries Its aim was also to promote the development of national policies, plans and cooperation agreements for Food and Nutrition Security ( rural poverty and sustainable agriculture in the countries of the region.
