Across the world, young people are stepping forward as leaders in agrifood systems transformation. At atime when progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is under pressure and disparitiespersist across regions and communities, youth are bringing leadership, innovation and a strong commitmentto food security. Their engagement is essential to accelerating action today and to shaping more resilient andsustainable agrifood systems for generations to come.Now in its fifth year, the World Food Forum (WFF) Global Youth Action Initiative (Youth Initiative) continuesto provide a vital space for this leadership to emerge and thrive. In 2025, the Youth Initiative further consolidatedits role as a convening and enabling platform, connecting young people, in particular young women, withpolicy processes, technical expertise and investment opportunities. Guided by the theme “Hand in Hand forBetter Foods and a Better Future”, it fostered collaboration across sectors and regions, reinforcing the Foodand Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)’s commitment to ensuring that youth perspectivesmeaningfully inform its strategic priorities and actions.
