The Global Learning, Finance, and Partnerships (GLFP) Project under The Restoration Initiative (TRI), (GCP/GLO/900/GFF), is a global capacity-building and knowledge-sharing initiative led by FAO in collaboration with the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Its objective was to address widespread deforestation and land degradation by promoting Forest and Landscape Restoration (FLR) through knowledge generation, dissemination, and institutional strengthening across 11 national TRI projects. The FAO-led component of the GLFP focused on capturing and disseminating best practices and building institutional capacity. Its primary goal was to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of national project teams and stakeholders to implement effective FLR strategies. This was achieved through the co-creation of knowledge packages, e-learning modules, global and regional workshops, online communities of practice (CoPs), and targeted training sessions. Special attention was given to the development of accessible and practical tools, capacity assessments, and inclusive learning approaches that emphasized gender, Indigenous rights, and sustainable financing.
