| dc.description | Immediate action is needed to improve sustainable management of water at all levels, as competition between water use sectors continues to increase rapidly. In agriculture, it is crucial that gains be made in terms of water productivity, increased agricultural productivity and the use of less water. Monitoring and addressing water productivity not only addresses food and water security, but also supports informed decision making for economic development and resilience to climate variability and change, as well as the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6.4 on improved water use efficiency. Water Productivity Improvement in Practice (Water-PIP) aimed to provide guidance on water productivity improvement to countries and engage with donors and institutions to raise the profile of water productivity priorities on a global scale. | |
