Resumen
Descripción
For over a decade, developing countries have been urged to engage in forest sector activities aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and managing forest carbon stocks sustainably. These activities, known as Reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries (REDD+), are vital for global climate change efforts, as confirmed by the Paris Agreement. The Green Climate Fund (GCF) supports REDD+ initiatives to help countries combat climate change and promote prosperity. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as a certified accredited entity to the GCF, assists government counterparts in Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Latin America in accessing GCF resources and provides technical support in proposal formulation.
