The workshop report provides a summary of the presentations, discussions, conclusions and recommendations of the workshop on The Implications of Social Farming for Rural Poverty Reduction. The goal of the workshop was to explore the possible contribution of Social Farming to rural poverty reduction through rural women’s economic empowerment, decent rural employment creation and social protection. Presentations were made by ILO; Oxfam International and UNRISD on related activities, as well as by social farming practicioners from Colombia, Tanzania and Italy. The findings of the conceptual background paper on Social Farming and its role in rural poverty reduction prepared by FAO and the University of Pisa were also presented. The Report gives account also of the results of the working groups organized duriong the workshop, that focused on the different aspects on how social farming can be supported in development context. Finally, it includes useful recommendations on how social farmi ng can be linked to employment, women's empowerment and social protection programmes and what can be FAO's role together with partners in supporing social farming activities in the field.
