Report of the thirtieth session of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC) convened in Manado, Indonesia from 11 to 13 August 2008. Major topics discussed were: an overview of the status and potential of fisheries and aquaculture in Asia and the Pacific; promotion of regional initiatives for more effective fisheries management; regional themes such as certification in fisheries and aquaculture and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing; and implementation of the Code of Conduc t for Responsible Fisheries in the region. Recommendations are included in the report.
