Among zoonotic diseases, brucellosis is universally recognized as the most important in the Near East. Furthermore, the disease is widspread in the human population due to the fact that rural communities live in close contact with their livestock. The use of Rev. 1 vaccine is a central issue to the strategy for regional brucellosis control programmes for the Middle East.
