The way carbon sink services of forest ecosystems are perceived is an important issue in the political agenda of Climate Change. Even more, when the relationship between carbon stock and flux is not absolutely clear in terms of climate change, mitigation problems and those economic values. This document summarizes results from CATIE's economic research related to environmental services provided by forests in carbon sequestration. The objective of this study is to show the economic value of carbon sinks and reservoirs in different forest ecosystems and to compare the results in terms of economic benefits.
