The document presents a review of farmer and fisher registries in the NENA region, examining the role these digital tools play in transforming agrifood systems. As the agriculture sector increasingly leverages digital technologies and data-driven business models, the adoption of farmer and fisher registries has become central to improving decision-making and policy formulation. These registries collect valuable data, ranging from socioeconomic and geographic information to administrative and statistical details, that is essential for effective policymaking. This study analyzes the functions, data types, coverage, and sectoral focus of these registries, offering an exploration of good practices and lessons learned from existing implementations. It also highlights the growing trend of linking these registries with social protection systems. Ultimately, this paper aims to inform policymakers, stakeholders, and practitioners of the potential of digital registries to enhance social protection and agricultural policies, fostering more sustainable, equitable, and integrated socio-economic development in the NENA region.
