Descripción
The “Improving Biodiversity and Sustainable Forestry” project is an initiative designed to enhance biodiversity conservation and promote sustainable forest management across Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Montenegro. Implemented under the FAO-Türkiye Forestry Partnership Programme (FTFP) and funded by the Republic of Türkiye, the project directly contributes to regional climate resilience and global biodiversity goals. With forests under increasing pressure from deforestation, overgrazing, and climate change, the project strengthens ecosystem resilience by fostering regional collaboration, policy advancements, and capacity-building efforts. It supports the commitments made at the 2018 Ministerial Roundtable on Forest Landscape Restoration to restore over three million hectares of forest landscapes by 2030.
