Descripción
Loss and damage (L&D) refers to persistent adverse effects from climate change that occur despite mitigation and adaptation efforts. Ongoing L&D within agrifood systems poses significant threats to rural livelihoods and sustainable development, as highlighted in the latest FAO report on the impact of disasters on agriculture and food security.1 At the same time, agrifood systems both contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and provide various solutions for adaptation and mitigation, adding a layer of complexity to the relationship between agrifood systems and L&D.
