The "National Gender Profile of Agriculture and Rural Livelihoods Viet Nam" assesses gender equality and women's empowerment in Vietnamese agriculture from 2018, informing FAO's work, national planning, SDG monitoring, and CEDAW discussions. Viet Nam has advanced gender equality through legal reforms and agricultural programmes, improving women's financial access and reducing rural unemployment. However, challenges persist due to inadequate gender integration in programmes. Women, despite being 52 percentage of agricultural workers, face lower qualifications, unstable jobs, and income disparities. They also have limited access to skills, knowledge, and agricultural extension services, while traditional gender roles and slow land ownership reforms hinder their access to resources.
