The PROMUCLIMA project was created to address critical challenges in 12 municipalities in western Honduras, where economic and environmental proposals were required to improve governance systems in those communities depending on forest and agroforestry resources. In addition, this context highlighted the need to support rural and Indigenous women, and youth, who were excluded from sustainable development and climate action decision-making processes. The project aimed to promote women and youth’s economic empowerment through the improvement of their knowledge and capacities, the reduction of time and efforts spent on house chores according to local plans, as well as the improvement of their access to different local, national and international markets, and the establishment of relationships with other public and private stakeholders, in order to obtain new financial opportunities.
