This final publication, entitled From stockpiles to sustainability: Seven years of transforming pesticide management in Central Asia and Türkiye, presents the comprehensive results of the GEF-funded, FAO-implemented project “Lifecycle Management of Pesticides and Disposal of POPs Pesticides in Central Asian Countries and Türkiye.”The report synthesizes the project's major accomplishments, critical insights, and strategic guidance gained over seven years of regional collaboration. It serves as an essential knowledge resource for national and international stakeholders – including policymakers, donor agencies, researchers, and civil society organizations – by offering a holistic view of the initiative's transformative impact on pesticide risk reduction and chemical governance.By chronicling the shift from managing immediate legacy hazards to building robust frameworks for sustainable pesticide lifecycle management, this publication seeks to anchor the durability of project gains. Its findings are intended to guide future policy reform, mobilize strategic investment, and stimulate ongoing regional cooperation – ultimately contributing to safer, healthier, and more environmentally resilient communities across Central Asia and Türkiye. The volume includes detailed thematic analyses, regional overviews, and country-specific case studies, enriched by partner testimonials and actionable recommendations for the way forward.
