Resumen

Descripción

Three thousand potato clones from 28 hybrid families of the International Potato Center (CIP) were tested in the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (INCA) from 1995 to 2002. The parents of these materials showed resistance to potato Y and X viruses. Selection was carried out following the traditional breeding scheme and qualitative characters for the first, second and third generations and quantitative characters for the fourth and fifth generations were taken into account; the presence of Alternaria solani, Streptomyces scabies, PLRV, PVX and PVY was evaluated. All clones and Desirée as control were planted in a Randomized Block Design. Data of tuber number, yield and average weight were subjected to a Balanced Variance Analysis with a factorial arrangement (15x2) and an AMMI model was used for genotype-year interaction. The best behavior was recorded in C-63, C-183, C-73, C-76, C- 81and C-48 clones, concerning yield and its components, tuber quality and disease performance.
