Several countries of the CIS have been affected by a severe drought and Georgia is among the hardest hit. This report contains the findings of an FAO/WFP Crop and Food Supply Assessment Mission which visited the country from 7-18 August 2000 at the request of the Government. The objectives of the Mission were to: assess the impact of the current drought on food production and supply; estimate cereal import requirements in 2000/01 marketing year (July/June) including food aid; and estimate seed requirements for planting in the coming season2. The Mission was assisted in its task by the MoAF, local UN Offices, bilateral agencies and many NGOs.
