Communication is essential in disseminating proper information about the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Central Region (CRC) and its activities. The Commission’s role is to strengthen the cooperation and coordination between member states. It supports the strategy of prevention to detect early signs of gregarious locust populations, and rapid intervention to eliminate dangerous locust infestations before they can cause damage to crops. In this regard, its focus is on human and institutional capacity building and preservation, and the introduction of up-to-date locust monitoring and control technologies. Based on that the Commission produces fact sheets designed to keep the member countries, and other interested parties informed of current activities, new developments and achievements. This factsheet will focus on the role of the Commission to support member states to manage and control Desert Locust.
