Indications that plants such as the potatoe bean, African palm and guanabano when well supplied with phosphorus resist certain insect attacks maybe due to the ability of the plants to produce disagreeable flavors resulting in a trophobiosis unfavorable to plant pests. A promising field of research in the relationship plant - fertilizer - insect is suggested
