Food prices have shown an upward trend in the last year and are now stabilizing but remain at high levels. Nominal rice price has exceeded the highest levels observed in 2008. Despite the 2010 good harvests, localized food supply shortages and market access difficulties persist, with vulnerable communities continuing to experience food insecurity. Food security conditions were affected by a cold wave that hit the country constraining people s ability to work. The government plans to build stocks with imports and support people by continuing food distribution.
