This side event will highlight the critical role that financing for development plays in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, and how it can be a cornerstone that can prevent and mitigate food crises and transform agrifood systems. The event will also offer a platform for institutions and countries to present their programme and discuss ways for leveraging different capacities, both financial and technical, to accelerate progress in gender equality and women's empowerment. Special focus will be placed on the empowerment of rural women, acknowledging the key role they have in ensuring inclusive sustainable agricultural practices and building the resilience of communities.
