The project achieved substantial results in strengthening the food security and resilience of agro-pastoralist households in Tharparkar and Umerkot through an integrated package of livelihood support, capacity development, and systems strengthening. Over the project period, FAO reached more than 48 000 households through a combination of productive subsidies, emergency assistance, and large-scale livestock vaccination campaigns, exceeding original targets. Agricultural and livestock subsidy packages enabled farmers to cultivate over 4 700 hectares of land and safeguard key livelihood assets, while more than 705 000 animals were vaccinated and dewormed, significantly reducing disease risks in a highly vulnerable pastoral context. The project also responded flexibly to major shocks, including COVID-19 disruptions and the 2022 floods, by reallocating resources to provide timely emergency and early recovery support to flood-affected households.
