Cameroon faces overlapping humanitarian crises that threaten food security and resilience. Protracted conflicts in the Lake Chad Basin and the North-West and South-West regions have displaced millions, while recurrent climatic shocks and epidemics further weaken coping capacities. Currently, 3.1 million people are acutely food insecure, with needs projected to rise through 2025.The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations' (FAO’s) Emergency and Resilience Plan (2026–2028) aims to assist 381 695 of the most food-insecure people with a USD 43 million budget. The three-year strategy bridges humanitarian response and long-term resilience by enhancing early warning and response systems, promoting climate-adaptive agriculture, supporting durable solutions for displaced populations and restoring pastoral livelihoods. Grounded in national priorities, the Plan emphasizes rights-based, inclusive and gender-responsive interventions to empower smallholder farmers and strengthen institutional and community resilience.
