Descripción
A general description is given of the Madagascar fishery industry. The exploitation of the mud crab (Scylla serrata.) is discussed in detail, describing the current situation, development potentials and strategies for development. The deepwater crustacean resources are also described, considering Palinurus delagoae, Geryon quinquedens and the deepwater shrimp. A pilot development project to investigate the potential exploitation of these resources is outlined.
