dc.descriptionThe results are presented of a mission carried out in Lao in the framework of the Provincial Aquaculture Development Project, to assess the constraints and conditions the country is facing with respect to development of mini-hatcheries. A workshop was conducted during the mission to demonstrate hatchery techniques. The recommendations of the mission are listed under the following headings: broodstock species and maintenance; stripping and artificial fertilization; improved hatching techniques; i mproved nursing; holding of nursed fish in cages before sale; management and budgeting of hatcheries; and, private mini-hatchery operations.
