Reviews ILCA's study of the traditional livestock systems of the Sahel and inland Niger delta in Mali. Describes ILCA's policy and its future programmes. Gives a summary of characteristics, social relations and constraints of the 3 agropastoral systems, viz, sedentary millet, livestock transhumant pastoralism, irrigation schemes of the office du Niger.
