Carbon isotope discrimination, an integrated index of the stress experienced by a crop, has been proposed as a test to detect genetic variation in drought tolerance. The aim of this study was to determine genetic variation in sets of upland rice genotypes and the relationship. Field experiments were carried out at CNPAF and at the University of Cambridge.
